Self-confidence can seem like a mystery, as though it’s something you're either born with or without, almost like a personality trait.
Having studied the psychology of confidence for nearly 20 years, I can tell you with certainty that it is something that can be learned. Self-confidence is something anyone can acquire.
It really comes down to learning to live by certain traits.
Some of these traits you may already live by strongly, in which case, just keep doing what you're doing. Others might be a weakness for you, or you're inconsistent in applying them.
What I recommend is to pick the one trait that stands out as being most impactful in your life and focus on that for the next week, until it becomes second nature. Then, you can revisit the list and choose the next one.
The war for confidence is won through tiny battles. It's not about massive achievements or impressive acts. It’s really the small, daily decisions that make the difference. That’s where the war is won.
So, rather than pressuring yourself to become a completely new person overnight, focus on making one percent gains each day.
Choose one trait, slightly improve your behaviour in that area, and then work on it again tomorrow.
