Locus of Control Changes What Type of Nice Guy You Are

Being a "nice guy" encompasses a range of traits—a spectrum of different personality characteristics—and no two people are exactly alike.

However, some traits for nice guys can be plotted along two axes: locus of control (internal vs. external) and extroversion vs. introversion. So, you could be an extrovert with an internal locus of control, or an extrovert with an external locus of control.

Similarly, you might be an introvert with an internal locus of control, or an introvert with an external locus of control.

These combinations create four main types of people-pleasers.

When I refer to "locus of control," I’m talking about where you believe control in your life is located.

If you have an internal locus of control, you believe you’re in charge of everything. If you have an external locus of control, you believe that everything is controlled by factors outside of you, making you feel like a victim to those forces.

This distinction affects what type of "nice guy" you’ll be.
