Emotions Buried Deep: The Explosion Effect đŸ’„

Suppressing emotions doesn’t get rid of them; it just piles them down and concentrates them.

The more you do it, the bigger the explosion will be. But they’re going to come out one way or another.

They’ll either explode inwardly—leading to depression, suicidality, or drug abuse—or they’ll explode outwardly, causing you to yell at people, destroy property, or make impulsive, irrational decisions.

So, imagine a person just being all pent-up for a while, having used dishonesty to suppress their anger.

Then, they find themselves in a safe situation—at home with their partner and kids, at a family dinner, with a friend who never judges them, or simply in the car where no one can see them.

That is when heir brain thinks, “Ah, here I can let it out now”.

That is when it happens. That is when they snap.
