When we look at the fight-or-flight response, high pressure is the fight response, and zero effort is the flight response—running away. However, both of them are just fear responses. Both are knee-jerk reactions to panic, fear, and stress.
What about a sustainable middle ground?
What about getting off the fucking roller coaster and cruising?
No highs, no lows—just constant, sustainable growth.
What if that’s an available option?
Why aren’t you looking for it?
Why are you stuck in that false dichotomy of only living highs and lows?
Because it’s not even about achieving some middle ground. It’s about not staying on the spectrum that goes from “pressure” to “giving up”.
To keep with the analogy: it’s getting off that spectrum, off that fucking roller coaster, and getting into a car to drive down the freeway instead.
You’ve got to think about getting off the “pressure-and-give-up” stress spectrum and start thinking about kindness, which is different.
It’s really fucking different.
It’s a complete paradigm shift.
For people like us, it’s so alien.
