Radical honesty is being open about the things you wish to hide—those things you’re ashamed of.
Shame dissipates the more you share it. If you can be honest about who you are at all times, no matter how ashamed you are of those truths, eventually, you’ll no longer feel ashamed of them.
People are only dishonest for one reason: they’re scared of the outcomes of being honest.
So, dishonesty is not only an act of cowardice, but it also keeps the shame cycle going.
Every time you hide something true about yourself, you validate its wrongness, and it becomes even more wrong.
Every secret you keep, every emotion you refuse to share, every opinion you suppress—shames you.
It’s not a good long-term plan to be deceptive. You’ll lose track of who you are, you’ll create superficial relationships with people who don’t trust you, and in the long run, you just won’t like yourself.
