I used to work with people who had schizophrenia, and one of the symptoms they often talked about was having a thousand ideas at once that all seemed equally good and not being able to take an action on any one of them.
It was an incredibly frustrating form of mania.
And I'm actually pretty familiar with that feeling. I resonate with that. Trying to do everything I can think of is one of the biggest blocks I suffer from.
One of the things that stops people like us from moving forward is we can't commit the g€nocide of killing off all possible ideas to get down to just one good idea.
And yet if we don't do that, we don't take any action at all.
All those ideas trying to get through the door mean that none of them actually get through.
The best thing you can do is to choose one thing to take action on today.
If you’re building a social circle, at least talk to someone new today. If you’re building a business, at least reach out to one new potential client today. If you’re improving your health, at least get to the gym today.
No matter how many ideas you've got, make sure you put one of them into practice today at any small level. That's going to ensure a lot more progress than trying to come up with the perfect idea or implement every idea you have.
