If you are a people-pleaser you are likely to observe a kind of inverted funnel: the further out someone is from you, and the less they matter to you, the better treatment they get from you.
You're really polite and nice to total strangers, and you're grumpy and surly with your own parents, friends or partner.
If you are a confident person, that funnel is reversed: the further out someone is from you, the less time, attention and love they get from you; the closer someone is to you, the more generosity, time, attention, kindness and resources one gets from you.
You may wonder why this is so. It’s because, unlike people-pleasers, confident people have the capacity to be honest. If someone irritates them, they get it out and they never endure more than five minutes of irritation before speaking up.
