How To Face Disapproval

A client of mine is eager to move to a different city to shake things up and enhance his quality life. However, he felt disappointed and upset when he shared his ideas with his parents, who were discouraging rather than supportive.

This type of response is common when you're trying to develop yourself. You'll often tell people about your ideas and, while you’ll be all excited, they will respond in a surprisingly negative way.

When I first thought of starting my business, I was shocked that nearly all of my friends were discouraging. I kept being taken back, until I realized something:

Every time someone tried to discouraged my new plan of action, 99 times out of 100, they never tried doing it themselves. They were not coming from a place of experience, they were not discouraging me from a place of knowledge or wisdom.

It's more like I've triggered some fear in them, as if I'm pressuring them to do it.

You've got to stop listening to people who don't have experience and just trust yourself.
